What’s with the old white guy in a dress dissing gender fluidity?

Once again the elder mouthpieces for the almighty Catholic Church are staking their heavenly claim on human creation. As if battering generations of women about conception and motherhood wasn’t enough this week’s close-minded sermon tackles gender and sexuality.

A group of fine people calling themselves The Congregation for Catholic Education is addressing the “educational crisis” in sex Ed. In a series of texts targeting Catholic educators, they argue that the “biological differences between a man and a woman are essential to human identity.” Boy! I bet these cloistered Androcentrics are praying for the days when most decent Christians wouldn’t speak of intercourse.

As a cis-gendered female identifying human whose body had been shamed into guilty submission, I’m more than annoyed that the graying men of the Catholic Church continue to spew their harmful and archaic philosophies.

Perhaps a flock of supposedly celibate papal puppets should cash in a few jewel-encrusted rings and hurry down to university for a course on embryology.

Civilization has come a long way in understanding fetal development, human sexuality, and gender identity since the rib thing.

I’m not going to preach about gender being more than genitalia or sexual differentiation occurring well into puberty. I’m not going to mention the lovely same-sex couple whose family lives down the road or the boatload of LGBTQ+ Catholics that I know and love. I am not going to hold any one person or group up in defense of this close-minded hatred. This narrative belongs to the church; it is the disinformation that they have purported for centuries.

What irks me today is not that the Catholic Church has once again reared is mitre-topped head in abject ignorance but that the silent pious continue to sacrifice the equality of others in the name of their god.
